Java Applet
An applet is a program written in the Java programming language that can be included in an HTML page. When you use a Java technology-enabled browser to view a page that contains an applet, the applet's code is transferred to your system and executed by the browser's Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
So, by the above reference its no need to setup any applet in the user client because of it will self transfering from the server. The user just update the version of IE to greater than IE 5.0.1 that show in the minimum requirement of the LearningSpace system and update the JVM version for execute. In LearningSpace system need version 5.00.3177 or greater. |
1. How to check JVM version?
You can go to a command prompt, type "jview," and press ENTER. The first line displays the JVM version.
2. How to check the file version?
Look at the properties for the following file c:\WINNT\system32\msjava.dll.
3. How to check the version of the OS and the Service Pack?
On the Windows Taskbar, select Start, Run, type "winver" (without quotes), and click OK, or select Start, Programs, Admin Tools, WindowsNT Diagnostics, Version tab.
4. IE 5.0 can use with the LearningSpace system or not?
Yes, you can use IE 5.0 or IE 5.01 (The same version) and the table below is the browers software certified.

5. IE 6.0 can use with the LearningSpace system or not?
Yes, you can use Internet Explorer 6.0 plus Java virtual machine(JVM) that we enclosed in CD-Rom and gave you on training time.
In case you use windows 2000 as a operating system of client machine, we recommend you to install service pack 2 of windows 2000,
then you will get update JVM version to 5.00.3802 automatically. So, no need to install JVM for IE 6.0 anymore.
6. If you use Windows 2000 with out service pack as a operating systems, what is the tools added?
This question reference to the previous question. If you don't install service pack of windows2000, you will get IE5 and JVM version 5.00.3229
by default that can be use with the LearningSpace system. No need to add any tools. |
